|
|
My wife and I use the iPhone MacGourmet app quite a bit, and the single most painful thing about it is the inability to remember search results. If you're cooking something that's taking more than 10 minutes, you end up exiting the app to do other things on your phone several times while cooking. With the current app, every time you re-launch the program, you need to search for the recipe again. This gets really, really old fast.
In a perfect world, when you relaunch the app, it should display the last recipe you were on, if when you exited the app you were displaying a recipe. At the least it should remember the last search you did, but this would be a poorer solution.
I did a search for similar requests, and found this one:
http://www.advenio.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1254
Since it was a half a year ago and there wasn't any reply, I decided to create a new topic.
Incidentally, I downloaded the free Epicurus app for the iPad, and its fantastic (for what it is). When designing the iPad MacGourmet app, take a look at this for "inspiration". I know that MacGourmet serves a different purpose, but how they deal with displaying the ingredients is awfully nice.
Thanks! |

The lack of a response on this request is infuriating to me because it makes the app so difficult to use. It makes me think the iPhone app is a very low priority.
I've previously paid for new versions of MacGourmet to get new features -- which is fair. This isn't a new feature -- IT'S A BUG. The solution should have been provided in a timely fashion. |

| I do wish that someone from Advenio would reply with something like, "Yep, this is filed in our bug database now" or "No, this isn't a bug or won't ever happen, because...". |

| This is really more of a support request, but the current version does do this, I'm not sure why you're not seeing it. If you want to discuss further, please send email to macgourmet [at] advenio.com. |

I've been seeing this problem myself and can repeat it at will:
-- Launch MacGourmet on my iPhone
-- Select the Recipes tab and then select a recipe which is displayed
-- Exit the app and then relaunch it
-- The recipe will display
-- Exit the app and then relaunch it
-- The recipe will NOT display
Another way to see the problem is as follows:
-- Launch MacGourmet on my iPhone
-- Select the Recipes tab, do a search, and then select a recipe which is displayed
-- Exit the app and then relaunch it
-- The recipe will NOT display
This may seem like a small issue, but it actually causes me a lot of pain since I use the timers on my iPhone when cooking, which causes me to exit and relaunch the app a lot. |

| Ah, I do see that happen, though, I'm not sure why it does that the second time. Thanks for the description. I've filed a bug so that it gets fixed, though it might have to wait for the next major update (just because that's where things are right now), but I'll see what I can do. |

| I have the same problem. Is there any idea of when the update will go through? I can't really recommend the app until it is OS4 compliant. Multitasking would be perfect! |
