I just downloaded the upgrade to MacGourmet 3 from Mariner Software.
Any thoughts, complaints, or suggestions? |

Can't say anything because after upgrading from MacGourmet Deluxe 1 to MGD3 (MacBook Pro, 10.6.4.) the library won't load.
After half an hour I quit MGD and deleted preferences before starting over, but with no effect: After being asked for widescreen or rowes again, it’s the same picture: The library won't load!
Any idea what to do? Any idea where to load mgd1 again?
Edit: Ah, found MacGourmet Deluxe 1.2.7 on cnet: click. |

Same here - the library will not load for the new version. What can I do?
I reinstalled the previous version again as well, so that at least I can work with my recipes. But I kind of hate to have paid the money for sth. that does not work now. |

We're looking into issues some people are having viewing information after the conversion (the data appears to be fine).
Can both of you open the Console application, which is in your Applications/Utilities folder and send any messages that get printed there when you start up version 3 to me at macgourmet[at]advenio.com? Thanks. |

Same problem here with MacGourmet Deluxe 3....
So I downloaded the MacGourmet ("light") tryout version, and it loads the library without problem, so the problem is probably "Deluxe" related!!! |

I have never used MacGourmet before and got the trial of version 3.
How do you print recipes onto index card sizes? I would like to print them out and gluestick them on, and I was under the impression that this was possible, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Ideas? |

Hmm, maybe I'll hold off a couple weeks on that upgrade.
My usual habit, whenever I have to do a paid upgrade, is to reassess the competition. If I'm spending money again, I want to be sure I'm still spending it on the right application for my purposes. And so this week I have downloaded, installed, and played with 8 different recipe management apps. I must say that MacGourmet is still head and shoulders above the rest. I am happy I bought MacGourmet, happy I upgraded to Deluxe, and I expect to be just as happy when I upgrade to MacGourmet 3. |

Thank you, Michael! I followed the advice you gave me in your mail (downloading a clean copy and replacing the version installed with it, then removing the new MacGourmet3Database file and converting again) and now I am happily using MacGourmet 3 |

I downloaded the trial version to update from MG3. All went well until just after I purchased the $10 upgrade. There was a spinning wheel in the bottom right hand corner, which didn't seem to want to end.
However, after quitting and restarting MG3 all was well and all my old recipes and smartlists were still there.
Love the new layout and the Text Clipping import panel is better than ever. As I use mostly UK recipe sites (eg BBC GoodFood and Market Kitchen) that are not recognised by MG, this is a boon. The auto-recognition of metric units is also much improved.
All in all, well worth the $10 upgrade costs. Well done!
John
P.S. If I had a wish, it would be for automated conversion of US cup based recipes into sensible equivalents using the more familiar oz or g used in Europe. |

I retract and revise this comment...I really like the feature that prevents my laptop screen from going blank; I just don't like the '80s look of the black background. |

Ok, I'm REALLY liking MG3.
One of my main LIKES is the new clip import feature. It's helpful to have the import info on the left with the box on the right to see it all on one screen.
Kudos! |

|
|
I have a unit-issue that has bothered me always.
As you see in the ingredients for soup-of-leek (below), there are a number of units for the ingredients that MacGourmet does not recognize as units.
stk (number, each); fed (clove); stilke (stalks); kviste (sprigs); spsk (tbsp); dl (deciliter - metric); l (liter); knivspids (pinch)
- all become part of the ingredient-name, and have to be edited out and into the unit field.
Each requires 3 double-clicks....
Once they have been in there, they are recognized as possible unit-measurements, but it does not prevent them from going into the ingredients-name next time.
Is this working better in MG3? It is really inhibiting for smooth usage.
I have not found out what the international version does for me - is there something I need to turn om for it to work? dl, l, g and kg are not parsing correctly either. I have not found anything in faq or anywhere that helps.
I'm hoping MacGourmet 3 has found a way of letting the user define units....
